My interest in Shamanic practices has always been present, as I travel on my lifelong journey of growth and healing. As ‘healers’, working as conduits to help others to heal themselves, we are all a form of Shaman, as we connect with nature, other realms and the universal life force energy to better the daily lives of others and ourselves. The more we can understand and expand upon were we came from, were we are now and where we are going and how we can nourish and flourish with the strength of the Earth, our guides and nature, the greater our existence becomes.
Thanks to a conversation with one of my clients recently I was inspired to delve deeper into understand how my clients & I can further benefit from greater consciousness with shamanic practices. Wikipedia says: Shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world. It is a very exciting subject and I am enjoying discovering more each day.
I wrote previously about our Spirit Animal’s (www.handserenity.com/blog/spirit-animal) and we also have a Power Animal that can change 2 / 3 or 4 times in our lifetime as we evolve, grow & our needs change. The difference between the two is: A Power Animal serves to help us increase our power, wisdom and growth where as a Spirit Animal acts as a guide and helper. Your Power Animal is part of you and can help you to better understand YOU as a whole & strengthens what we need at this time.
To discover our Power Animals we use Shamanic Journeying and I think Sandra Ingerman captures the meaning of this perfectly in her book of the same name. “Shamanic Journeying is the inner art of travelling to the ‘invisible worlds’ beyond ordinary reality to retrieve information for change in any area of our lives – from spirituality and health to work and relationships.” Drumming and meditation is used to explore the Middle, Upper & Lower Worlds and one fantastic purpose of this is for Soul Retrieval, but that is a whole other article / blog! In short, we ‘lose’ a piece of ourselves / our soul through trauma, accidents and major life events and such like, very often during childhood.
I am sure this is a topic that I shall be writing about again, so much to learn and experience! I have found my own Soul Retrieval journey’s intriguing, beautiful, grounding, incredibly healing and totally amazing!!! It is advisable to experience at least 4, 3 with specific goals/ areas of the past that need healing & 1 with no set area to recall.
In Numerology, 2018 is a '11' Universal Year - 2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 11, super exciting as it will be a year of heightened intuition, psychic connection and manifestation for many of us, so if you have ever felt drawn to explore this area more, now is the perfect time!
